United Kingdom

The United Kingdom, commonly known as the UK, is composed of four constituent countries: Northern Ireland, Scotland, Wales, and England. Scotland, Wales, and England collectively form Great Britain. Located on the north-western coast of the European continent, the UK showcases a diverse range of geographical landscapes. The northern and western regions feature rugged mountain ranges, valleys, and highlands, shaped during the last ice age when the area was covered by glaciers. Southern England is characterized by rolling hills, while Scotland and northwest England are adorned with numerous lakes, known as lochs, resulting from glacial melt. These lakes are often narrow, elongated, and can reach considerable depths. The legendary tales of the Loch Ness monster, affectionately known as Nessie, are rooted in the folklore surrounding these iconic lochs.
